Comments from Master Class and Workshop Participants:
"Jarred’s knowledge and enthusiasm of Polish language and culture combined with his experienced use of online resources is really brought out in this workshop. So much knowledge presented in a natural way. Would definitely recommend!"
Sara Laimon (Faculty, McGill University Schulich School of Music)
"The Studio seminar Score Reading for Performers was nothing short of transformative. Jarred Dunn's approach to the content provides what is far too often missing in music teaching in every area: a holistic view of the subject that is academically sound, analytically informed, and grounded in the practicalities of making and experiencing music. I would love to see this seminar turned into a full semester-long course. Jarred Dunn's teaching combines the intellectual elements of Bach with the intimate, human emotions of Chopin to create an experience that is as beautiful as the music it discusses."
Amanda Wolschleger (MA, Music Theory Candidate, McGill University Schulich School of Music)
"A delightful, most engaging experience of 4 hours feeling like 1! A very holistic experiential workshop exercising many faculties of our brains- connecting to language; rhythm; sociological context; historical context; physiological connection of sound and movement; humour; simulated learning in a Polish classroom; cohesive group experience (increasing friendship) to include but a few. Jam-packed!"

"Be prepared to listen and learn. Mr. Dunn draws his audience in with ease. His manner of presentation is both interesting and insightful. One can't help but go away feeling that something important has been learned and that it will echo in one's daily musical life. Mr. Dunn takes educating his students to a new level when it comes to teaching on-line. Students are encouraged to participate through Mr. Dunn's probing questions, thoughtful comments and positive encouragement. One comes away from his seminars and master classes feeling that useful (and interesting ) information has been passed on that will enhance one's understanding of the music and the performance of it."

"Jarred's knowledge of the music of Chopin and Brahms presented will be very helpful to any teacher or student of Romantic music. Many hours of practice and musical interpretation can be saved by choosing the proper edition of the published music of these composers. This seminar (Brahms and Chopin: Editions and Interpretations) led us on the correct musical journey."
Louise Chochla, RMT
"Jarred Dunn is an engaging, knowledgeable and effective clinician. When working with high-school aged students, he was a supportive and empathetic guide without minimizing the importance of improvements to be made. Students who participated and observed this class commented on how helpful and inspiring it was to hear demonstrations from Jarred, not only of the repertoire being presented in the masterclass, but also examples from the broader piano repertory that demonstrated the same point he was making. The students appreciated the versatility of his advice as well as his ability to work in a very detailed way, uncovering seemingly small errors that made a big difference when corrected. Jarred's masterclass was enlightening."
Kelsey Taylor (OCT, MM, Faculty: Earl Haig-Claude Watson Arts School, Toronto)
"What an inspiring musician! What a respectful, knowledgeable and well-spoken teacher! It was very special to have a musician of this caliber come and teach us."
Elizabeth Sherk (North York Suzuki School of Music)
"So thrilled I attended this very inspiring workshop! I so appreciated what Jarred Dunn had to share with us, and watching his approach with the two advanced piano students during the masterclass was very beneficial."
Sheelah Saunders, RMT
ORMTA Central Toronto
"Thank you for a fascinating dive into the development of piano pedagogy from essentially a musicology perspective. What made it relevant and memorable was you sharing your personal experiences...a fantastic afternoon of music."
Hannah Greiner, RMT (ORMTA Central Toronto)
"Jarred Dunn is an articulate, imaginative and dynamic teacher. He encourages students to be an active listener, to experiment with sound and have a personal view of the music. During master classes, his demonstrations are convincing and students can learn interesting insights on how to improve their performance."
Borjana Hrelja, Director: Collegium Musicum Conservatory of Music
"Jarred Dunn is a pianist and master teacher of the highest calibre. His immense knowledge of the piano, musical history and personal experience with world class artists assures and inspires students and teachers alike. Having attended Mr. Dunn's workshops (Taubman in Perspectives, Essential Chopin, Beethoven's Brain, Piano Teachers Summer Workshop) and his many masterclasses, I find that he can quickly assess the general knowledge of his audience and quickly route the most productive and suitable goal for the class. All is done interactively. In his masterclasses, I am always impressed by Jarred's ability to identify interpretation, technical, or performance issues and to fix them in minutes: it takes him seconds to solve technical issues that burden teachers and students for years."
Jill Summers, RMT (MM), Baldwin Award-Winner/Fellow)
"The summer Piano Teachers Workshop was an amazing experience. Each day was a different activity and the week produced a lot of firsts for me: my first master class, duet, and being an unofficial examiner for a Grade 8 piano student. Jarred's lecture on the teaching of Chopin and Liszt was informative and gave me the opportunity to compare their styles to my own. Not only is Jarred very knowledgable, but his approach to dialogue in his lectures keeps the listener intrigued. During our final performances, we saw how much within a week each participant improved and gained considerable confidence."
Adrian C. (RMT, )
"The workshop exceeded my expectations. Jarred made the content interesting by engaging the group in various activities. My favourite was how to stay focused during a piano performance while unexpected distractions were taking place in the background. Jarred is resourceful and has a deep understanding of piano technique and music analysis. He helped me improve my technique with phrase shaping and releasing tension from my hands. I am now incorporating these techniques when teaching my students."
Tania M. (RMT, MYC Teacher)
"My experience in workshops with Jarred Dunn has been enlightening. It has helped me open my eyes and ears in a way I didn't realize was possible. I now look forward to practice sessions as a way to explore music and notice the time flying by. I listen more carefully to the music my students are making instead of getting caught up in the notes. I think my students are benefitting from my lessons with him almost as much as I am! I am full of fresh ideas and positivity after our lessons and am grateful to be able to pass this along."
